There are certain majors where doing a specific undergrad path is helpful, but for the most part, what you study in undergrad does not have as much influence as we think in what paths we can take in grad school. If you are looking to switch paths, meet with your advisor, you might be surprised at how likely it is to study something different when in grad school! Yumna Samie attended ASU all of their undergraduate career and will be attending UMass Amherst for grad school starting in the fall. For their Undergrad, Yumna double majored in English and Communication and for their Graduate degree, they will be focusing on Learning, Media, and Technology. During their undergrad, they participated in the communication and public speaking mentoring lab, CommLabASU and currently works in academic publishing at SAGE publishing, as a Product Associate. Yumna is a first-generation student and their educational path involved going to a 4-year institution after high school.
