At times, the classes we least expect teach us valuable skills that we carry with us for the rest of our careers. Learning to critique what you’re learning and being able to question unconscious biases can help us see the material from different perspectives as well as understand the impact biases can have not only on external works but also the work we do ourselves. What class shaped who you are today?

Yumna Samie attended ASU all of their undergraduate career and will be attending UMass Amherst for grad school starting in the fall. For their Undergrad, Yumna double majored in English and Communication and for their Graduate degree, they will be focusing on Learning, Media, and Technology. During their undergrad, they participated in the communication and public speaking mentoring lab, CommLabASU and currently works in academic publishing at SAGE publishing, as a Product Associate. Yumna is a first-generation student and their educational path involved going to a 4-year institution after high school.
